‘s HERTOGENBOSCH – Achmea Hypotheekbank N.V. is to issue medium term notes to refinance its existing mortgage portfolio. It will therefore participate in the Credit Guarantee Scheme provided by the State of the Netherlands, for which it received approval from the Dutch Ministry of Finance, following a positive recommendation by the Dutch Central Bank.

The issue will take place in the near future, but the exact date and other terms, such as the interest rate and currency, are conditional upon market circumstances. The intention is to issue notes amounting to approximately €2 billion with a maturity of 5 years.

Achmea Hypotheekbank provides mortgage loans only for owner-occupied residential properties in the Netherlands. Achmea Hypotheekbank funds itself in the international capital market. It is participating in the government’s Credit Guarantee Scheme as the capital markets are still functioning insufficiently.

Achmea Hypotheekbank achieved a net profit of €30.3 million over the first half year of 2009. As per June 30 2009 the bank's Tier-1 ratio stood at 10.6%. The BIS-ratio on that date was 13.8%. Achmea Hypotheekbank has a mortgage portfolio of €14 billion and it lends exclusively against the security of mortgages on owner-occupied residential properties in the Netherlands.
